David completes the London Marathon!
He did it! David Twohig completed the London Marathon on Sunday 3rd October in an impressive 4 hours and 48 minutes. On behalf of the staff and management at TMD, we’d all like to say, “Well done, David, what a fantastic achievement. Your perseverance and stamina certainly paid off!”
Having missed the London Marathon the previous year, due to the pandemic, the first for which he’d successfully balloted, David was particularly keen to run the 2021 race. He explains: “Both myself and the London Marathon turned 40 in 2020, and I was gutted when it was cancelled. That’s why I was so keen to run it in 2021.”
He admits the going was tough. “I hit the wall after 18 miles and found the last stint very hard. I had to draw deep and just keep going. I was very pleased to see the finish line.”
David raised £2,447 through his JustGiving page. He was running in aid of Sense, a charity that supports people who are deafblind, helping them to communicate and experience the world. “My wife works for Sense, and through her, I’ve been able to see the excellent work they do. They offer personalised support through their centres, holidays and short breaks, and in people’s homes for as long as it’s required. They also provide early intervention for children, helping them access education and transition to adulthood and beyond.”
Donations are still being received through David’s JustGiving page, so if anyone would still like to donate in recognition of his fantastic achievement, simply click here.
As for the future, David is already looking ahead. “I’m signing up for the marathon next year and have started planning my training programme. I hope to increase my fitness levels, particularly my stamina, and better my time in 2022. No excuses, I have a whole year to prepare!”
So, once again, massive congratulations to David from TMD on his exceptional performance and, if you haven’t already done so, please show your support by donating on his JustGiving page.
