Rachel nominated for two ‘Women In Insurance’ awards

We are delighted to report that our Group Operations Officer, Rachel Karn, has been nominated in two categories at the forthcoming ‘Women In Insurance’ awards. The prestigious event, which celebrates women’s achievements in insurance, brings to the fore many great stories, especially how women across the insurance sector have led the response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Nominated for ‘Unsung Hero’ and Insurance Woman of the Year (SEM), Rachel has demonstrated outstanding ability, resilience and professionalism since she joined our firm, and especially during the last few months, which have proved challenging for everyone. Rachel’s ability to balance work and home life, while continuing to make top class contributions to our business, has not gone unnoticed and we believe she has performed exceptionally, more than rising to the challenge.

‘Unsung Hero’ is open to women in a back office or non-consumer role, who have gone above and beyond to contribute to their business, support a team or encourage diversity in the workplace. ‘Insurance Woman of the Year (SME)’ is open to those working for a firm with fewer than 500 employees, whose achievements and work has helped raise the profile of the sector as a career for women and who have been influential in attracting and retaining women into the sector.

This year, the 2020 awards will be something special, celebrating women who have continued to perform while facing a unique and unforeseen set of challenges that have seen them working from home, maintaining work and home life, taking on key roles in home teaching, and coping with personal and family stress, while continuing to make an outstanding contribution to their insurance business.

The event, now in its second year, is ensuring that the achievements of women across the industry are starting to gain the profile they deserve. TMD Managing Director, Sean McDonagh, says: “We are proud to support the awards, as they don’t just reward achievement, but also inspire others. Rachel is a great role model for women in insurance, committed to training, leadership and mentoring others. Well done, Rachel, for your exceptional performance, especially during the recent hard times.”

The winners will be announced on Tuesday 10th November at a prestigious gala dinner to be held in the Royal Lancaster London hotel in Bayswater, which we are looking forward to attending.
