Supporting The Insurance Charities Awareness Week 2023
TMD fully supports The Insurance Charities Awareness Week (ICAW), which this year takes place between 19th and 23rd June. Throughout the week-long event, we will be helping to spread awareness about the importance of employee wellbeing and employers looking after their staff.
The Insurance Charities was initially established in the City of London in 1902 as The Insurance Clerks Orphanage. Today, a few name changes and mergers later, its mission remains the same: to provide help and assistance for current and former insurance employees and their dependents within the UK and Irish insurance industry.
Following on from the pandemic, which showed us how unforeseen events can have a huge impact on our lives, particularly in jobs, health and finances, the cost of living crisis continues to make life difficult for many people, with sharp increases in food and energy prices.
It’s at times like this that The Insurance Charities’ support is required more than ever, and TMD is keen to raise awareness of the important work the charity does and ensure that employees know about the services that are available and how to access them.
As well as posting on social media and drawing attention to essential support services provided, we have a number of ICAW branded packets of mixed herb seeds that we'll be giving out to employees, highlighting the importance of sustainability and looking after the environment.
It’s really important that anyone who requires support or assistance is signposted towards the charity, where they can receive the help they require. In addition, we also have our own mental health first-aiders, Rachel Karn and Caroline Mooney, who are always on hand should any member of staff require support or simply need to talk.
